International Business

Whether you are preparing for a business career in the U.S. or abroad, you will be part of the global economy. Understanding the dynamics of overseas business cultures and dealing with international issues is the key to success in many fields. Through the International Business major, you’ll gain a solid business foundation strengthened by insight into the multinational elements of business practice, including communication, economics, finance, management, and marketing.

The University is accredited by AACSB International, the world’s leading accrediting body for business schools. With the use of elective courses, International Business majors can dual major Finance or Marketing, to give you unparalleled flexibility when it comes to internship and career opportunities. You may also distinguish yourself as a member of the Global Scholars Program in which you will have opportunities to study and/or work abroad through short-term or semester-long programs sponsored by the College of Business.

WHAT WILL YOU STUDY?

International businesses need highly trained professionals with knowledge of all aspects of global enterprise. In our interdisciplinary major, you will take a common core of business courses enhanced by courses with an international focus. You will broaden your worldview through courses in International Management, Multinational Marketing, and International Finance and gain multicultural perspectives in liberal arts courses such as International Communication. You may also gain a competitive advantage through accelerated study in the Five-year Bachelor/MBA or Master of Science in Organizational Leadership programs. A legal degree can open additional doors through the pursuit of our 3+3 law program.

INTERNSHIPS AND FIELD WORK

On campus, you will help host and network with international business professionals at the International Business Breakfast Series. You will complete an internship with a business enterprise or government agency that engages in international activities. You'll also have opportunities to study and/or work abroad through short-term or semester-long programs sponsored by the College of Business with organizations like CISabroad, ThinkGlobal Incorporated, the American Red Cross, Baystate Health, Global Language Network, MassMutual Financial Group, Simon and Schuster, and The International Language Institute of Massachusetts.

THE SAP CERTIFICATION ADVANTAGE

SAP, the Enterprise software, is part of our core Business Education of how today's businesses are run. SAP is used by companies such as SunPower for Talent Management, San Francisco 49ers to enhance fan experience, and Proctor & Gamble for Real-Time Analytics. Students receive SAP certification, which expands career options.
