Eve was nominated for Student of the Month by her classmate Thao Nguyen.
Interview with Eve:
Why did you choose Western New England University?
I chose Western New England University for my undergrad and originally entered as a Health Science major. I quickly changed to pre-pharmacy, since it provided a better pathway towards my career goals in healthcare. The small class sizes and the ability to get to know my professors is what drew me in. I really liked the professional environment that the Center for Science and Pharmacy building provided.
Please share your thoughts about the pharmacy program at Western New England University.
The pharmacy professors at WNE are easy to work with, and I like how many of the student organizations get involved in the surrounding community. The variety of student opportunities within the Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) are wonderful, and I appreciate how we were able to rank our Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE) selections for our final year. I am very excited to begin my clinical rotations next month!
What are your current career aspirations?
After graduation, I would love to pursue a residency in solid organ transplants and hopefully stay along the East Coast. Originally, I wanted to pursue a career specializing in oncology however, in talking with my professor, I was introduced to solid organ transplant which follows a similar track and interests me.
What advice would you provide to a student considering pharmacy for a career?
Students should know that pharmacy school is a lot of work and is a full-time commitment. In the end, it will be really rewarding and will be worth the effort. The positive impact that you can make as part of the healthcare team and with your patients is invaluable.
Eve’s Faculty Advisor (Dr. Kim Pesaturo, PharmD, Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice) shared the following thoughts:
Eve is incredibly well-deserving of this honor! Eve consistently demonstrates an attitude of excellence, determination, and perseverance. She is thoughtful about her contributions that she shares in class and with her peers. Eve is already doing great things in the field of pharmacy, and is headed for great heights in her career. Congratulations Eve!
