Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng) in Engineering Management

• BS or MS in engineering, science, or a related field
• GPA of 3.0 or higher
• GRE (waiver available)
• Undergraduate or graduate statistics course
• Working knowledge of a programming language (R, Python, C++, etc.)

Candidates for the Doctor of Engineering Management should possess a master’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline. A cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0 (4.0 scale) will be required for admission. A GRE score* from the last five years, with a combined verbal and quantitative score of at least a 300 with a quantitative score in at least the top 40th percentile will be required for consideration. Candidates below established GPA and GRE requirements will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

*The College of Engineering will consider waiving the GRE requirement based on progressive industry experience and/or academic performance. In some instances, a recommendation from a research advisor, and an interview will be required for consideration of a waiver. The interview can be scheduled at any point during the application process by emailing Dr. Christian Salmon, Department Chair for Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, at christian.salmon@wne.edu.

Course Delivery: In-class or online*
Total Credits: 45 (30 coursework + 15 Praxis)

Options for attending courses include fully in-person, fully online, or in a hybrid format—whichever best accommodates work and family commitments. All lecture-based presentations will be recorded using the Echo360 system and made available for online review.

Students interested in completing the program fully online will need to consult with the Department Chair to discuss goals and to determine how an online path can support progress and completion—particularly in relation to dissertation requirements. Once enrolled, students will be matched with a faculty advisor who is a subject matter expert aligned with their research interests.

*International students must attend in-person classes to meet student visa requirements.

The D.Eng in Engineering Management fosters a culture of applied research and real-world problem-solving. It enables working professionals to advance beyond the Master of Science in Engineering Management (EMGT) degree, with a focus on practical application and reduced research requirements compared to a PhD in EMGT.

Graduates will gain the leadership skills, applied research experience, and deep understanding of engineering theory needed to create value, lead in industry, and thrive in today’s complex, interconnected world.

The program includes 30 credits of coursework and 15 credits of research, culminating in a Praxis project developed with a faculty advisor and defended before a committee.
