Four-year Bachelor/MS in Accounting

College of Business

Want to get a real jumpstart on your accounting career? When you complete the combined Four-year Bachelor/Master of Science in Accounting program from Western New England University, you will have met the 150-hour licensing requirement to be a certified public accountant in most states and you will be well prepared to take the CPA exam. This challenging accelerated program is designed for highly motivated students who are willing to accept a heavier academic load and engage in summer study. If you are admitted, and remain in good academic standing in the program, you can take any accounting course—graduate or undergraduate—once you have met the prerequisites for that course.

The accelerated accounting program integrates both undergraduate and graduate courses allowing you to focus continuously on the key topics in accounting rather than taking an undergraduate course at one time and a graduate course in the same topic much later. It saves tuition and prepares you for an early start in your career. Recruiters from public accounting firms often seek to make contact with accelerated accounting students in their sophomore year.

Admissions Requirements

Students who have achieved a high level of success in their high school academic performance may apply for this program when they apply for admission to the university. Applications for both the accelerated program and admission to the university are considered concurrently. To qualify for this program, applicants typically have earned a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher, and a combined verbal and quantitative section score of 1200 or higher on the SAT (or an ACT of 25). Students in good standing are able to enter the program at any time during their studies, but a delayed entry may preclude completing it in four years. To remain in the program a student must earn a 3.3 in major and a 3.0 overall GPA.

Curriculum

This program’s curriculum allows undergraduate full-time accounting majors in the College of Business to accelerate the completion of both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Accounting. Students accepted into this program can earn the Master of Science in Accounting degree in as few as four years.

Summer Tuition and Housing

Undergraduate tuition covers up to six courses, either graduate or undergraduate, during the fall and spring semesters for four years. Tuition and housing for summer courses is additional and the per credit costs depends on whether the courses are undergraduate or graduate.

Faculty

Owners of their own CPA firms, accounting consultants, and accounting scholars are the kinds of professionals who bring the accounting profession to the classroom at the College of Business. On-campus or online, your professors readily share their extensive knowledge and expertise as gifted classroom teachers.
