Students who do not qualify for provisional acceptance as an incoming freshman can apply during the first semester of their junior year as long as they have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
As an undergraduate student, you may concentrate in Civil, Environmental, Reservoir, and Railway Engineering. For your graduate studies, you will take five core courses in Construction Management, Solid Mechanics or Advanced Green and Sustainable Civil Engineering, Finite Element and Numerical Analysis, (Design of Experiments, and Engineering Management or Project Management. You will then choose an advisor and course of study for the remainder of your education. Your choices include an all-course option, a project option, which includes advanced coursework and a final presented project, and a thesis option, which involves advanced coursework and a thesis with presentation.
You'll learn from our experienced faculty who are dedicated to your success. They will guide you not only through coursework but also through projects, outside research, career opportunities, and internships. The personal attention and support you will receive are unparalleled. Our full-time faculty hold Ph.D. degrees from top engineering schools such as University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Texas at Austin, Cornell University, and the University of California at Irvine. Their research expertise includes sustainable transportation, infrastructure systems, water reclamation and reuse, intelligent road signs and safety devices, acoustic scattering and structural vibration, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
Civil engineers build the foundation of our infrastructure, from railways to highways and water treatment plants. This work is vital to keep our society moving, and the MS in Civil Engineering will give you the knowledge and the experience to take on the challenge.
