Five-year Accounting/MS in Accounting

As an accounting major, in your junior year you can choose to pursue a graduate degree through our Five-year Bachelor/Master of Science in Accounting program. This qualifies you to sit for the CPA Exam in Connecticut or Massachusetts in just 10 months, saving students time and tuition. If you maintain at least a 3.30 GPA in your undergraduate program, the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) requirement will be waived.

Why Choose Five-year Accounting/MS in Accounting?

This challenging accelerated program is designed for highly motivated high school students who have a GPA of at least 3.50 and SAT Critical Reading and Math scores totaling at least 1200 (ACT 27). If you qualify, you can be conditionally admitted to the MS in Accounting program when you apply as a high school senior. If you maintain at least a 3.30 annual GPA overall and in accounting courses, the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) requirement will be waived.

If you do not meet the GPA and SAT requirements as a new freshman, you join the program in your senior year. You must maintain a GPA of at least 3.00 overall and on accounting courses, and obtain an acceptable GMAT score. The GMAT would need to be taken prior to the beginning of the senior year at the University.

If you are not currently eligible for this accelerated program, you can still apply to enter the MS in Accounting program after completing your undergraduate courses.

What Will You Study?

The MS in Accounting program enables you to develop the skills in planning, controlling, evaluation, and analysis that characterize a successful career in accounting. It also provides a challenging academic environment that will extend and refine your knowledge of business and accounting through study, experiential exercises, and assessment performance. With an eye toward management positions, MSA students are also given opportunities to acquire more general decision-making and leadership skills.   • Online Learning to Fit Your Schedule

    Courses are taught online with an option to meet in class for half of the eleven sessions in each course. These live sessions are held in the evening. Beginning in your senior year, you can take courses entirely online, or choose to attend six live sessions during the 11-week graduate term. If you do not meet the GPA and SAT requirements as a freshman, you can still become involved in the fast-track program based on your grades and GMAT test scores.

Admissions Requirements

If you are accepted to Western New England University for this five-year program, you will be conditionally admitted to the master’s program. If you maintain at least a 3.30 GPA in your undergraduate program, the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) requirement will be waived. Successful completion of a baccalaureate degree is required.

An undergraduate degree in accounting is not required for admission, however, the MS in Accounting has eight undergraduate accounting foundation courses: Financial Report I, Managerial Accounting, Financial Reporting II, Financial Reporting III, Cost Accounting, Fundamental Concepts of Tax Structure, Auditing and Assurance Services, and Principles of Finance. If you need to satisfy any of the foundation courses, you may be able to begin your studies on a provisional basis while fulfilling any course requirements. The foundation courses can be completed at Western New England or any accredited school.
