Academic Advising Center Staff: Sam Barrus
Sam graduated from The University of Rhode Island with Bachelors degrees in Secondary Education and Biology in 2014 and a Masters degree in Human Development & Family Studies–College Student Personnel in 2020. Prior to her time at WNE, she worked in education nonprofits and held positions at multiple higher education institutions in the state of Rhode Island.
Her advising philosophy is based in meeting students where they are at developmentally in order to provide individualized, holistic support that will allow students to feel empowered to take charge of their academic journey. When Sam is not working, she enjoys going to the beach, playing video games, thrift shopping, and hanging out with her partner and her two cats—Chalupa Supreme and Pebbles.
