Background
Before joining the OTD program at Western New England University in 2018, Dr. Erin Murray served as a full-time faculty member in the MSOT and OTD programs at West Coast University in Los Angeles, California, for five years. Dr. Murray also taught, mentored, and served on committees within the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program at Grossmont College in San Diego, California.
Dr. Murray’s primary areas of clinical interest include acute care, the intensive care unit (ICU), geriatrics, and hand therapy, with a particular emphasis on physical agent modalities, ergonomics, and a broad range of orthopedic conditions and injuries.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Murray has gained extensive clinical experience across diverse practice settings, including acute care hospitals, outpatient hand therapy clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and acute rehabilitation units.
She holds California Advanced Practice Certifications in both Hand Therapy (HTC) and Physical Agent Modalities (PAMs) and is also a Certified Kinesio Tape Practitioner (CKTP). In addition, Dr. Murray is actively involved with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) as an item writer for the national certification examination. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys attending the theatre, watching live sporting events and documentaries, and spending time with her family and foster dog, Bruno.
