Background

Dr. Katelyn Parsons is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Ambulatory Care and a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist. She received her PharmD degree from the University of Connecticut. While working towards her PharmD, Dr. Parsons completed the Pharmacy Veteran Affairs Learning Opportunities Residency (VALOR) Program at VA Central Western Massachusetts, where she developed a love for ambulatory care pharmacy working in the various pharmacist-run clinics. Upon graduation, Dr. Parsons completed a PGY-1 pharmacy residency largely focused in ambulatory care at the VA Boston Healthcare System.

Dr. Parsons joined the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2013. From 2013 through 2021, she provided Pharmacy Consultation Services at MassMutual Financial Group as a member of the Wellness Center; through this service, Dr. Parsons provided comprehensive medication management services for employees and their family members and immunized up to 1200 employees per year at MassMutual's flu clinic with help from WNE pharmacy students. In 2021, Dr. Parsons started a pharmacy diabetes service at Baystate's Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center, working closely with patients and providers to improve diabetes management. Additionally, Dr. Parsons works at the WNEU and BigY Foods, Inc Consultation and Wellness Center one day per week, where she helps patients with their diabetes management as part of an accredited Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) program.

Dr. Parsons is an active member of the American Pharmacists Association, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, Alpha Zeta Omega Professional Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society, and Rho Chi Society. She served as Chair of the pharmacy accreditation Self-Study Steering Team in 2020-2021 and Supreme Directorum (national president) of Alpha Zeta Omega Pharmaceutical Fraternity in 2018-2019.
