Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Projects

Ingenuity In Action

Students take what they have learned in the classroom and apply it to a real industry problem in a Senior Design Project that caps off their engineering education. Many regional companies sponsor and guide students through the completion of their project, which also allows them to leverage the opportunity into a full-time job. Some examples of Senior Design Projects are an Acoustic Drop Levitator, which aids pharmaceutical drug development; an assistive glove device to help the disabled perform difficult gripping and hand movements; and an embedded GPS system in a model rocket to return it back to its launch location.

Each spring, seniors present their projects at the Emerging Engineers Expo.
