Margaret L. Boyle, Chief of Staff and Assistant Vice President for Government Affairs at Western New England University, has been elected Chair of the Springfield Redevelopment Authority (SRA). Boyle, who was appointed to the SRA in 2022 by then-Governor Charlie Baker and reappointed in 2024 by Governor Maura Healey, brings extensive experience in government affairs and higher education to this leadership role.
In her new position, Boyle will help guide the SRA’s efforts to revitalize Springfield, focusing on key projects that aim to enhance the city’s economy, create jobs, and restore blighted properties. “I am honored to take on the role of Chair with the SRA,” said Boyle. “I am proud of the work we do in community and economic development and look forward to advancing the many important projects currently in motion.”
Boyle’s appointment reflects Western New England University’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and regional development. As a senior leader at WNE, Boyle has been instrumental in building relationships with local, state, and federal partners to promote initiatives that benefit both the University and the broader community.
Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno praised Boyle’s leadership and experience, stating, “I want to congratulate and thank Margaret Boyle for taking on this important role for the future of Springfield. It is well earned with her background.” He also recognized outgoing Chair Armando Feliciano for his more than two decades of service, including leadership on transformative projects such as Union Station and Court Square. Feliciano will remain on the board as Interim Treasurer.
The SRA board also welcomed a new member, Michael Langone, Business Manager and Financial Secretary for Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 104. Additionally, Ellen Hurley, appointed to the SRA in 2024, was elected Secretary.
Boyle’s election as Chair reinforces Western New England University’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that contribute to the growth and prosperity of the Springfield community.
