Western New England University School of Law is proud to announce that Htut Naing, J.D. Candidate 2026, has been named the inaugural recipient of the Donald Dunn Law Library Award. The award, established in 2025 through a generous donation by Joel Ginsburg (L’77) and Rebecca Ginsburg, recognizes students who have developed a strong connection to the Law Library throughout their legal education. Naing received a $1,000 scholarship as part of the honor.

“Receiving this award is deeply meaningful because it recognizes not only my academic journey, but the law school community and staff that have supported me every step of the way,” said Naing. “This distinction reflects the impact of a place and people who have shaped my growth—not only as a student, but also as a future lawyer.”

The award honors the legacy of Donald J. Dunn (1945–2008, L’83), whose lifelong dedication to legal education helped shape the School of Law. Dunn joined the faculty as Law Librarian and assistant professor in 1973 during the School’s first year as a full-time program. He went on to serve as Interim Dean and Dean from 1996 to 2001, and later as Professor and Law Library Director until 2003. Known as a passionate and vocal advocate for law librarianship and legal education, Dunn was admired for his warmth, encouragement, and respect for all.

Two Dunn Law Library Awards will be presented annually beginning in May 2026, ensuring Dunn’s legacy continues to inspire and support future generations of Golden Bear lawyers.
