Scholarships
Western New England University has a history of making our outstanding educational experience accessible to individuals with academic potential who also have financial need. Many motivated and talented students look to the University for scholarships to enable them to fulfill their educational and career goals. Several of our generous donors have recognized the importance of providing opportunities to new generations of students through creating named scholarships at Western New England University. Pre-Pharmacy students are eligible for many of the scholarships available to our other undergraduate students. For a list of the scholarships that are available to pre-pharmacy students please check out the list of annual scholarships and endowed scholarships.
Beginning Fall 2021, the Pharmacy Impact Scholarship is awarded to incoming first-year students in the WNE PharmD program who are not currently enrolled in any Western New England University undergraduate program, including Pre-pharmacy.

College of Pharmacy Annual Scholarship
Annually an award is made to a student enrolled in the College of Pharmacy with demonstrated financial need.
College of Pharmacy Deans’ Scholarship
Annually a $1,000 scholarship is awarded to the highest rated incoming student in the Professional Pharmacy program (as determined by the College of Pharmacy’s Admissions Committee) who demonstrates achievement and commitment to the College of Pharmacy’s mission, vision, and values during the first semester of the Professional Program. This merit based scholarship was generously established by the Deans of the College of Pharmacy: Dean Evan Robinson, Associate Dean Beth Welch, Assistant Dean Kim Tanzer, Assistant Dean Joshua Spooner and Assistant Dean Matthew Dintzner.
CVS Health Foundation Pharmacy Scholarship
Scholarships are available based on academic merit to students enrolled in the professional pharmacy program. Recipients should be students who are interested in a career within a community pharmacy practice. This scholarship was generously created by CVS Health through their charitable arm of CVS Health Foundation. The CVS Health Foundation’s mission is to give back to the communities in which the live by helping people on their path to better health through community engagement and support. Through this scholarship they are helping to educate the next generation of community pharmacists.
Robert W. and Marilyn P. Dobek Pharmacy Scholarship
Four $1,000 annual scholarships are available to pharmacy students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with demonstrated financial need. The recipients must be in good academic standing and hold a minimum grade point average of a 3.0. Preference is given to students who have completed a bachelor’s degree program prior to matriculating in the College. This scholarship was generously created by Western New England University Trustee, Robert W.
Norman and Minna Halperin Scholarship
A scholarship is available to a pharmacy student enrolled in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with demonstrated financial need. The recipient must be in good academic standing, have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, have an interest in community pharmacy, and have a demonstrated care and concern for fellow students. Should there be more than one student that meets the above criteria, there are secondary preferences for a student who has worked or trained, prior to enrollment, in a retail pharmacy and who is from one of the western Massachusetts counties of Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, or Berkshire. This scholarship was generously created by the family and friends of Norman and Minna Halperin. Norman and Minna Halperin were owners of Norman's Pharmacy in Springfield, MA for over 30 years. For many years, they have also been dedicated community and pharmacy association volunteers and avid collectors of pharmacy memorabilia from around the world.
Alfred A. LaRiviere Memorial Endowed Pharmacy Scholarship
A scholarship is available based on financial need to a pharmacy student enrolled in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences who is a resident of Springfield, MA. This scholarship was initiated by members of the Rotary Club of Springfield, Massachusetts in memory of Alfred A. LaRiviere. Al was a longtime member and past-president of the Springfield Rotary Club and served on nearly all of its committees. Al was an alumnus of Western New England University receiving his BBA in Accounting in 1951 and was a Trustee at the institution for 40 years. Since 1910, the Rotary Motto has been "Service Above Self." Rotary strives to achieve this objective through activities in four primary areas, referred to the Four Avenues of Service. There was no better example of a man that truly lived this motto. Alfred A. LaRiviere's caring heart and countless hours of dedication to Rotary, Western New England University, his family, his community and to the world will be missed by countless individuals.
National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation Pharmacy Partners Scholarship
Scholarships are available to students enrolled in the professional pharmacy program. There is a preference for students who are interested in pursuing a career in community pharmacy. This scholarship is generously sponsored by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation. The NACDS Foundation Pharmacy Partners Scholarship Program is generously supported by many benefactors, consisting of NACDS Chain Pharmacy Companies and Associate Member benefactors. This scholarship acts as a reflection of the NACDS Foundation's continued commitment to pharmacy education and to strengthening the role of community pharmacy in enhancing patient care.
Rite Aid Pharmacy Scholarship
Scholarships are available to students enrolled in the Professional Pharmacy program who have financial need. This scholarship fund was generously established by Rite Aid Pharmacy.
The Frank J. Skrzyniarz, RPh Scholarship
A merit-based scholarship is available to a professional pharmacy student who is interested in pursuing a career in hospital pharmacy. The recipient of this scholarship must maintain a minimum 3.0 overall GPA. This scholarship was generously established by the Hospital Pharmacists of Western Massachusetts, in honor of former association president, Frank J. Skrzyniarz, RPh.

Western Massachusetts Pharmacists Association Endowed Scholarship
The Western Massachusetts Pharmacists Association Endowed Scholarship is awarded based upon a combination of financial aid and merit is available to a professional pharmacy student from one of the Western Massachusetts counties of Hampden, Hampshire, Berkshire or Franklin. This scholarship was generously created by the Western Massachusetts Pharmacists Association in recognition of contributions made by its members to the Western Massachusetts community and to the greater study and practice of pharmaceutical science.
