The Western New England University Art Gallery is currently exhibiting “Mad Dog, Wood and Wax,” until April 16, when the final art exhibit of the academic year will begin. The University’s art gallery curator and mixed media artist, Patricia Jenks, created this unique display of two and three dimensional pieces of art.
The exhibit opened on March 6 and features “Mad dog” paintings, bent ash wood displays, along with Jenks’s newest work of third dimension encaustic constructed pieces (encaustic art is a wax based paint which is kept molten on a heated palette). “Students come up with marvelous things, I would give them a kernel of an idea. Something weird, just a seed, and they would just work with it and come up with something wonderful. It’s really cumbersome and inspiring,” stated Jenks who used the Western New England community and students to inspire her unique styles of art. The art gallery welcomes you in with absorbing standard paintings and captivating three-dimensional pieces that gives all viewers something to enjoy.
