Fifteen psychology students were recently inducted into the prestigious Psi Chi Honor Society during a ceremony in the Center for Sciences and Pharmacy. Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of each member, and to advance the science of psychology. It was founded in 1929 and is one of the largest honor societies in the United States.
“I’ve been working on projects with upperclassmen who are already members of the Psi Chi Honors Society,” said Sarah MacDonald, “so now it’s very exciting for me to be a part of this important society.”
Renee Brazenall, who plans to pursue a career as a speech pathologist explained, “It means a lot to recognized for my academic achievements and to be part of a broader community in the field of psychology.”
Aaron Kraus, Senior Program Manager at Liberty Mutual Insurance, and a 2010 Alum of the psychology department, was the keynote speaker at the induction ceremony, “It feels great to be back on campus, it’s like coming home. I’ve been visiting all morning with faculty who not only taught me when I attended here, but became my mentors and friends.”
Associate Professor of Psychology Jessica Carlson remarked, "I'd like to congratulate this year's inductees. It's so rewarding for me to be able to recognize their hard work and achievements. I'm very proud of them."
The following students were inducted: Shallom Adewale, Brianna Akers, Renee Brazenall, Kelsey Breda, Nicole Calkins, Alyssa Cancelmo, Michelle Corriveau, Revecca Freitag, Sarah Goetze, Hayley Johnson, Lindsay Kaselouskas, June Klemmer, Sarah MacDonald, Lyndon Ondrick, and Mattew A. Pavone.
