Timothy Huffam and Benjamin Tencza won First Place for their poster presentation at the 2017 New England Water Works Association Spring Conference and Exhibition in Worcester, MA.

Undergraduate Civil Engineering students Timothy Huffam and Benjamin Tencza presented a student poster titled "Increasing the Efficiency of Water Pumps in Multi-unit Residential Buildings" at the 2017 New England Water Works Association Spring Conference & Exhibition in Worcester, MA. Their poster won First Place and was awarded a monetary stipend.

“Tim and Ben were able to analyze the deficiencies of current water pumps for multi-unit residential buildings and came up with methods to increase the pump efficiency,” explains Dr. Kenneth Lee, chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. “This translates to savings of up to 65% in electricity usage, a significant improvement over current pump systems.”
