The College of Business Honors program experienced a large jump in participants for the 2018-2019 academic year, more than doubling the first honors class from 2013-14.
"While the number of honors students has increased over the six years of the program, admitted freshmen have been steady at 20-21 students in the three previous years, so this year's number of 39 came as a pleasant surprise," says program director Professor Curt Hamakawa L'83. "The robust growth of the Business Honors Program reflects the value-added proposition that the College of Business presents for high academic achievers considering Western New England University."
In the spirit of growth-driven curriculum, the Business Honors program represents more than the opportunity to engage with peers and professors at a high academic level. The program also offers targeted networking experiences, guest speakers, student/faculty dinners, and other special events that allow participants to connect with business professionals on a more personal level.
"I feel very fortunate to have been involved in the Honors program," says senior Sport Management major and Cohen Scholar Kristen Breen. "Getting to take classes with like-minded individuals has been a great way to develop relationships for the future. As a member, and current chair of the College of Business Honors Program Council, I've seen a lot of growth for the program in the past few years, and I'm excited about what that means for future students. I'll forever be grateful for the students and faculty who have challenged me, while at the same time provided a platform for immense personal, academic, and professional growth."
