Due to the expected winter storm, the University will close campus beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. The campus will remain closed through Monday, and we expect to resume normal operations on Tuesday morning. If conditions change, we will share updates promptly. 

Campus Services During the Closure 

While most in-person activities will pause, essential services will remain available. Public Safety and Facilities will be on campus throughout the storm, and the following services are expected to remain open or staffed: 

  • Residence Halls (RDs/RAs on duty) 
  • Dining 
  • Computer Labs 
  • Facilities/Housekeeping 
  • University Operator 
  • Health Services (TBD by Director) 

Students living on campus should expect regular support from Residence Life and Public Safety. 

Classes and Work During the Closure 

Students 
Scheduled face-to-face classes will not take place on campus. At the discretion of faculty, some in-person classes may be held remotely. Faculty will communicate directly, so please check your email and course site for updates. 

Classes that are already scheduled to be fully remote will continue as usual unless otherwise communicated by your instructor.  

Staff 
Staff who are able to work remotely should coordinate with their supervisors as appropriate.

University Names Three To Board of Trustees

Western New England University has added three new members to its Board of Trustees. University President Anthony S. Caprio recently announced the appointments of Wendy A. Benson, Diane E. "Di" Holman G'96, and Steven J. Tremblay '87/G'91.

"We are fortunate to have these highly accomplished individuals share their collective wealth of experience with our University. These newly-appointed Trustees join a talented group of current Board members whose guidance and support have greatly enhanced the reputation and prominence of Western New England University. I look forward to working closely with these new members of our Board. The future of Western New England University is made even brighter because of the addition of these fine individuals to the Board," said President Caprio.

Wendy A. Benson serves as the Head of Wealth Management at MassMutual, where her duties include overseeing the company's Broker Dealer and Trust Company. She joined MassMutual in 2009, working first as Assistant Vice President of Infrastructure and Architecture and later as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sales and Distribution Operations. Prior to joining MassMutual, Benson worked for other financial companies including John Hancock Financial Services.

Benson holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the State of New York at Brockport. She currently resides in Braintree, MA.

Diane E. "Di" Holman G'96 is a senior human resources executive with more than 25 years of global experience at Fortune 500 companies across multiple industries. She is known for designing and implementing innovative talent strategies and solutions to drive profitable growth, enable business transformation, and grow a world-class culture. Currently, Holman is the Managing Director, Talent Management for Moody's Corporation in New York City. She oversees the global talent management strategy, including leadership development, learning, organizational effectiveness, diversity and inclusion, talent acquisition, and succession planning.

Holman earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst and a Masters of Business Administration from Western New England University. She has served as an adjunct professor in graduate management studies at Western New England. Holman resides in New York City.

Steven Tremblay '87/G'91 is an Executive Director in the Ernst & Young Forensics & Integrity Services practice, serving as a leader of the Government Contract Services (GCS) solution team based in Boston. Tremblay has more than 32 years' experience in government contracting, including 18 at Ernst & Young and 14 as Chief Contracts Administrator with Hamilton Sundstrand Space Systems International, Inc.

Tremblay earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) from Western New England in 1987 and his MBA in 1991. He holds a Master of Science in International Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Tremblay currently serves as chair of the Western New England University College of Business Dean's Board of Advisors and a member-at-large in the University's Alumni Association. He is a resident of Wilbraham, MA.
