Western New England University School of Law's Clason Speaker Series will host a talk by Jennifer Rushlow entitled "No Time to Lose: Addressing the Climate Crisis in Court" on Wednesday, October 30 at noon in the Blake Law Center Common. The presentation is free and open to the public. Lunch will be served.
Jennifer K. Rushlow is the associate dean for Environmental Programs, director of the Environmental Law Center, and associate professor of Law at Vermont Law School.
Prior to joining the faculty at Vermont Law School, Professor Rushlow was a senior attorney and director of Farm and Food at Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) in Boston. Before that, she worked in private practice at the law firm Anderson & Kreiger in Boston.
Professor Rushlow has expertise in a wide range of environmental issues, including climate change, agriculture, transportation, and environmental justice. Professor Rushlow argued and won a landmark climate law case before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, Kain v. Department of Environmental Protection, 474 Mass. 278 (2016). She was named a 2016 Lawyer of the Year by Mass Lawyers Weekly for her work on the case. Professor Rushlow was also appointed to serve on the Massachusetts Zero Emission Vehicle Commission by Governor Deval Patrick in 2015.
For more than 30 years, the Clason Speaker Series has provided a venue for thought-provoking discussion on current legal topics. The series is named after Charles R. Clason, a prominent local attorney and member of the U.S. House of Representatives who served as Dean of the School of Law from 1954 to 1970. All Clason Speaker Series events are open to students, alumni, the University community, and the general public.
