Associate Professor of Pharmacology Clinton Mathias was interviewed by Western Mass News for a story that sought to provide context about the number of COVID-19 cases in Massachusetts.
While the state appears to have many cases of COVID-19, for most of western Massachusetts, the total of number of cases is much less than 1% of the populations in Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties. Dr. Mathias discussed current models that indicate that western Massachusetts may see its peak in May, while the eastern part of the state will experience the peak sooner. He also encouraged residents to continue social distancing and other precautions in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. You can view the entire story on Western Mass News’ website.
