Western New England University (WNE) College of Business is offering a free half-day workshop entitled "So You Wanna Teach?" for working business professionals interested in sharing their business experience and skills in the University classroom. The workshop will be held on Friday, June 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon with lunch to follow in the University Dining Commons at Western New England University.
"This workshop is designed for business people who have always had an interest in University teaching and exploring the role and responsibilities of working as an adjunct," according to Dean of the College of Business Dr. Sharianne Walker. "As an AACSB College of Business that is committed to relevant industry-aligned learning and connection to our business community, we are interested in enhancing the bridge of academia and business by bringing business professionals who have powerful insights about their field and about the future of work into our classrooms," she added. Adjunct teaching is also of value to business organizations seeking to build a talent pipeline for their companies.
The workshop will explore the role of the adjunct, curriculum and connection strategies, what Universities seek for qualifications from adjuncts, on-line vs. in classroom pedagogy, as well as the fundamental nuts and bolts of being an adjunct professor.
"We are delighted to be working alongside Seneca Consortium, a faculty development company that works with Universities to support and develop teaching talent on this new venture," added Walker.
The workshop is free to business professionals interested in exploring adjunct teaching. Registration for the event is required and can be completed by emailing cob@wne.edu and noting Teaching Workshop in the subject line.
