A total of 35 Western New England University College of Engineering students have earned their Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
Students who received the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification join a growing number of professionals in possessing a thorough understanding of enhanced problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on the DMAIC process: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control.
The University announced their partnership with Solomon EOS in 2017. This partnership made it possible for students to specialize in Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification. This certification reflects the knowledge by the individual to serve as a trained team member within their function-specific area of the organization. Through this certification the students gain the necessary skills to explore new ways to innovate and accelerate change which leads to improved processes and increased efficiency.
"The Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management at Western New England University is proud to provide not only its own students but students from all the engineering disciplines the skills they will need to be highly effective process and systems engineers when they graduate," said Matthew Romoser, Associate Professor of Industrial Engineering. "Regardless of their engineering major, practicing engineers of all disciplines are surrounded by all kinds of processes. The Lean Six Sigma Belt Certification will make them much more marketable when they graduate and will allow them to hit the ground running with their new employers.” Romoser said this is the largest class to date to have received the Green Belt Certification.
