Western New England University (WNE) is pleased to announce that the expected incoming class for the 2023-24 academic year will increase by nearly 25% compared to last year. This significant growth in enrollment is a testament to the University's commitment to providing a first-rate education and a supportive learning environment to students.
"We believe that every student deserves access to a high-quality education, and we are committed to making that education affordable and accessible," said WNE President Dr. Robert E. Johnson. "We are excited to welcome the next generation of learners to WNE as we provide them with agility along with the skillset and mindset to learn, unlearn, and relearn as a global citizen."
The incoming class is made up of students from diverse backgrounds and includes many first-generation college students. The University's admissions team worked diligently to ensure that students from wide and varied backgrounds had access to the resources and support they needed to apply and enroll.
Next year's freshman class will come from 20 states, 16 countries, and 359 high schools, with approximately 4% being international citizens.
"Enrollment growth is always related to giving students what they need," said Vice President of for Enrollment Management Greg Matthews. "Students and their families have become ever more concerned about costs and outcomes of a university education. Western New England University is committed to providing the experiences that students desire and outcomes that matter to them and their families, all the while being an affordable four-year private educational option across income levels."
The increase in enrollment is also attributable to the University's commitment to offering a range of financial aid options, including scholarships and grants, to help students achieve their academic goals without taking on excessive debt.
The 2023-24 incoming class can look forward to a dynamic and personalized academic experience that encourages personal exploration and growth in their fields of interest.

Western New England University continues to stake its claim as a New Traditional University, and data from several sources show that WNE is a national leader in return on investment (ROI) measures. In a study conducted by Georgetown University, Western New England University was ranked in the top 6% of colleges and universities by ROI – first in Springfield and third in the Pioneer Valley behind Williams and Amherst Colleges. In addition, U.S. News & World Report's (2022) Top 100 National Universities found that the median starting salary for WNE graduates is higher than 52 of the top 100 institutions in the country.
