Western New England University's Women's Ice Hockey team made history on February 24 with a thrilling victory over the University of New England, securing their spot in the championship game for the first time in program history.

In a fiercely contested playoff game, the Golden Bears emerged triumphant with a final score of 2-1 against the University of New England. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone for Western New England Women's Ice Hockey and underscores the team's unwavering dedication and skill throughout the season.

"What an awesome opportunity and experience to not only host a playoff game for the first time tonight, but to advance and be able to host the championship," said WNE Golden Bears Women's Hockey Coach Katie Zimmerman. "The team is so deserving of this moment, and I couldn't be happier for the group, especially our inaugural class of seniors who have been the backbone of our culture."

The Western New England Women's Ice Hockey team will now prepare to host the CCC Championship game on Saturday, March 2, at 7:00 p.m. after top-seeded Endicott was upset on home ice earlier this afternoon by No. 5 Curry College. The Golden Bears and Colonels will meet for the first time in the CCC Championship game. The game will be played at the Olympia Ice Center in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Fans and supporters are invited to join in this historic event as the Golden Bears aim to clinch the title in front of their home crowd.
