Western New England University's College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is proud to announce the launch of its new Master of Science in Medical Sciences (MSMS) program, now accepting applications for the upcoming academic year. Designed to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry, the MSMS program offers a comprehensive pathway for both domestic and international graduates to advance their careers within the U.S. health sector.

Dr. Hamed Gilzad Kohan, program coordinator for the MSMS program, emphasized the program's role in preparing graduates to navigate the changing landscape of medical research and healthcare delivery. "In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a renewed focus on global health and the need for skilled professionals to drive medical innovation," said Kohan. "Our MS in Medical Sciences program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to make meaningful contributions to the field, whether through research, clinical work, or healthcare administration."

The MSMS program is tailored to meet the diverse needs of students from various educational backgrounds, building upon science-related undergraduate study to ensure a comprehensive learning experience. Ideal for graduates holding bachelor's degrees in fields such as biochemistry, biology, biotechnology, chemistry, dental surgery, health sciences, medical engineering, medicine, medical lab technology, microbiology, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy, physiotherapy, surgery, or veterinary science & animal husbandry, the program offers a robust academic foundation to pursue advanced education or career paths in various healthcare practices.

For domestic graduates from medical and health professions schools, the program serves as a bridge to advanced career opportunities within the U.S. healthcare system. With a curriculum that emphasizes advanced research methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches, students can tailor their studies to align with their personal career goals, whether in dentistry, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, veterinary science, or other healthcare professions or to pursue careers in clinical work, research, public health, or healthcare administration.

International students also benefit from the MSMS program's unique offerings, which help them transition seamlessly into the U.S. healthcare sector. By combining rigorous academic training with a global perspective, graduates are prepared to excel in diverse healthcare environments, both in the United States and abroad.

"Through coursework delivered in the state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories of the Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy, students will gain hands-on experience and practical skills essential for success in biomedical research, clinical practice, and healthcare administration," said Kohan. "As a Western New England University graduate, students will also acquire highly sought-after skillsets, including divergent thinking, effective communication, collaborative teamwork, visionary leadership, and an entrepreneurial mindset—qualities vital for careers in discovery and innovation."
