Faculty and students from Western New England University’s College of Business presented an impactful analysis of Big E attendance trends during a special session on Thursday, November 14, 2024. This presentation marked the culmination of a semester-long project conducted by Business Analytics students in collaboration with the College’s newly launched Business Data Center.

Established in Spring 2024, the Business Data Center leverages advanced computing capabilities to provide regional businesses with actionable insights, aiding in data-driven decision-making and forecasting. The Big E presentation is a prime example of the Center’s mission to foster impactful research and collaboration with local industry.

Key Big E leadership, including Anne-Alise Pietruska, Interim Director of Marketing, and Jessica Fontaine, Director of Education and Human Resources, actively participated in the session. The research was led by student analysts Cole Crosby and Jack Mappus, with guidance from Dr. Bahadir Akcam, Professor of Business Analytics and Director of the Business Data Center.

The findings sparked a lively discussion, with Big E leaders expressing significant interest in the students' methodology and findings, as well as enthusiasm for future collaboration.

“The students’ presentation exemplifies the high caliber of research and professional development we foster in our College of Business,” said Dr. Sharianne Walker, Dean of the College of Business. “Projects like these allow our students to develop real-world business skills while making a tangible impact on the local economy. It’s inspiring to see the synergy between our students, faculty, and regional businesses.”

The session concluded with a shared commitment to further data-sharing initiatives, solidifying the foundation for ongoing collaboration between Western New England University and the Big E.
