Western New England University's department of marketing recently presented the fourth annual Breana Giordano Memorial Award, honoring the legacy of the late Breana Giordano ’14, a marketing alumna remembered for her talent, optimism, and dedication.

The award was created by Market Mentors, where Giordano spent four years prior to her passing in 2021. In celebration of her life and in recognition of her passion for the field of marketing, Market Mentors established the memorial award to “bring light to others” and support emerging leaders preparing to enter the profession.

The $1,000 cash award is given each year to a rising senior who has demonstrated both academic excellence and leadership within the University’s marketing department. This year’s award was presented in the presence of Alicia Powers, Giordano’s mother, along with members of the University community.

Following a unanimous selection by the marketing faculty, senior Alexis “Lexi” Torres was named the 2025 recipient of the Breana Giordano Memorial Award. Torres, who has distinguished herself through scholarship, engagement, and professional drive, was celebrated for embodying many of the same qualities that defined Giordano during her time at Western New England.

“We are grateful to Market Mentors for their continued generosity and for honoring Breana’s legacy through this meaningful award,” said Elizabeth L. R. Elam, Ph.D., professor of marketing. “We are proud to recognize Lexi for her achievements and for the promise she represents as a future marketing professional.”

Giordano earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Western New England University in 2014 before beginning her career at Market Mentors, where she quickly rose through the agency due to her work ethic and enthusiasm.
