Western New England University announces that Associate Professor Murat Aydogdu from the department of Business Analytics and Information Management in the College of Business has been recognized as a 2026 North American SAS Educator Award recipient—an international distinction honoring faculty who are advancing analytics, data science, and artificial intelligence education in higher education.
The SAS Educator Awards celebrate professors whose innovative teaching and academic leadership are preparing students to succeed in data-driven industries. Presented by SAS Institute, a global leader in analytics and AI software, SAS software is widely used for statistical analysis, data mining, forecasting, and a range of business intelligence, visualization, and advanced analytics functions across industries worldwide.
Dr. Aydoğdu integrates SAS tools—including the company’s cloud-based analytics platform—into coursework in databases, business intelligence, and machine learning. By embedding industry-standard software into classroom instruction, he ensures students graduate with hands-on experience in the technologies organizations rely on to make strategic, data-informed decisions.
“This recognition reflects Professor Aydogdu’s commitment to experiential learning and career-relevant education,” said Dr. Paul Costanzo, interim dean of the College of Business. “Our students are not simply learning theory—they are applying powerful analytics tools to solve real-world business problems.”
The 2026 awards, announced by SAS Institute in February, recognize educators worldwide who demonstrate innovation in curriculum design and strong engagement with analytics education initiatives. Aydogdu’s selection places him among a distinguished group of global faculty leaders shaping the future of analytics education.
At Western New England University, experiential learning is central to the academic model. Through applied projects, industry-aligned curriculum, and exposure to professional-grade software platforms, students develop the analytical, technical, and strategic skills that employers increasingly demand.
The University community congratulates Professor Aydogdu on this well-earned recognition and celebrates his continued impact on preparing Golden Bears for success in a data-driven world.
