Hall Council

Hall Council is a programming and advocacy organization here on campus. We promote unity and a positive residence hall experience through programming and activities. Each residence area has its own hall council in which any residential student can participate. Programs include the annual Bed Race at Family and Friends Weekend and RHA Trick or Treat (for the Springfield community).

Hall Council elections take place each September. Election information will be posted in Kodiak classrooms at the beginning of the year. Students should speak with their Resident Advisor or Residence Director if they have any questions.

Why did you become an RA? I wanted to be an RA because I love to help community-build. I believe that it is important for all of us to grow in some aspect whether that may be academically, socially, or personally. One of my strengths is leadership and to be an RA, that is an important quality to have, especially working with freshmen. I feel as if there’s a lot of opportunity that comes with this role. You never know who you may meet on the way that may lead you to something amazing.

Why did you become an RA? I became an RA because when I first moved onto campus, my RA was Faith, and although I did not stay in her building long because of a roommate issue, she has helped me far beyond what I expected. Ever since, I have always wanted to be that comfort for a resident or even someone you trust with serious situations.

Why did you become an RA? I was originally inspired by first year RA and I still feel encouraged by one of my colleagues to take on this role and keep to it. I became an RA because I wanted to create a supportive community where students feel welcome and connected. College can be a challenging transition, and I wanted to be a resource for my peers, helping them navigate both academic and personal challenges. I saw the role as an opportunity to develop leadership skills and build lasting relationships.
