One-on-One Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring is a valuable and effective resource for any student who would like help with writing. At the Writing Center, students attend collaborative sessions in a friendly, relaxed environment. Tutors will work with students on writing and reading assignments in any course and at any stage in the writing process. Students may meet with a tutor on a regular basis, schedule an appointment when needed, or take advantage of walk-in tutoring services.

What to Expect From the Tutor:

  • Private sessions
  • Self-guided work at your level/pace
  • Friendly and competent help with the following:
    • Essay development: thesis, support, analysis, and organization
    • Organization of ideas
    • Unpacking an assignment
    • Documentation and citation support: MLA and APA
    • Sentence structure/mechanics/punctuation

What the Tutor will NOT do:

  • Correct your work
  • Rewrite your paper
  • Edit or proofread your paper

What We Will Expect From You:

  • Conscientious effort
  • Enthusiastic participation
  • Active commitment

The Writing Center is open on-ground and virtually.

On Ground in Herman 107
Monday–Thursday: 10:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m.
Friday: 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Virtually Via Zoom
Sunday–Thursday: 5:00–7:00 p.m.
