Robotics Is For Every Age
In the FIRST LEGO League competitions, teams consisting of up to 10 members of 4th to 8th graders research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, or energy and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, and program a robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS® and then compete on a table-top playing field.
The students have fun while learning to apply science, technology, engineering, and math concepts (STEM), plus imagination, to solve a problem. They develop critical thinking and team-building skills, basic STEM applications, and even presentation skills, as they must present their solutions with a dash of creativity to judges.
These competitions offer students an amazing experience as they celebrate their hard work, have fun, make new friends, and are exposed to ideas and ideology that will enhance their lives for decades to come. Over 87% of participants are more interested in doing well in school, and 88% have more interest in attending college.
