Annual Scholarships

American Society of Mechanical Engineers Scholarship

Scholarships of varying amounts are awarded annually to students majoring in mechanical engineering who excel in scholarship and have made a significant contribution to the Mechanical Engineering program at the University. Additionally, their grades should warrant continuing in mechanical engineering. The students shall either be juniors or seniors at the start of the next semester. The scholarship is funded by contributions from the Western Massachusetts Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Asadorian Family Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship is available to a College of Business student from Rhode Island based upon financial need.  This scholarship is renewable for the student?s subsequent years at the University provided he/she continues to meet the scholarship criteria.  This scholarship was generously established by Guy Asadorian.  Guy is a 1986 graduate of Western New England, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance.  A former member of the Golden Bears football and baseball teams, Guy Asadorian is a Principal and Co-Founder of Tameracq Partners, Inc., a Providence, RI-based mergers and acquisitions firm that specializes in advising buyers and sellers of middle market companies.  Guy and his wife Ann live in East Greenwich, RI.

Mark Berthiaume and Betsey Thompson Scholarship

A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a fulltime freshman with demonstrated financial need. If the student continues to meet the criteria, the scholarship is renewable and will provide financial aid support for the student?s four years at the University. The scholarship was established through the generosity of Mark L. Berthiaume `78BSBA and his wife, Betsey Thompson.

Irl and Peg Brown Scholarship

A scholarship is available to a student with demonstrated financial need and academic merit who is enrolled in the College of Business. This scholarship was generously created by Irl O. '57BBA and Peg Brown.

Janet Johnson Bullard Scholarship

A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a full-time freshman with demonstrated financial need. If the student continues to meet the criteria, the scholarship is renewable and will provide financial aid support for the student?s four years at the University. This scholarship was established through the generosity of Janet Johnson Bullard '69BBA.

Coach Richard Burns Memorial Bowling Scholarship

A $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a returning Sophomore or Junior with a minimum grade point average of 3.0.  There is a preference for a member of the Western New England University Bowling Team to receive this award.   Should a member of the Bowling Team fail to qualify for this scholarship, then preference should go towards a student who is majoring in education.  Richard "Dick" Burns was associated with the Western New England College bowling program for 40 years, including 33 as head coach of the varsity team. He was co-founder of the Tri-State Bowling Conference.  Dick was a 1950 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, served on a numerous national collegiate bowling committees and was the sectional coordinator for seven seasons. He also was a member of the National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association All-America selection committee. Dick was a professor of science and education and faculty member at Western New England College from 1958 until his retirement in 1995. He passed away on Feb. 9, 1999.  This scholarship was generously created by Coach Burns’ friends and former bowlers in memory of his dedication to Western New England, its Bowling Team, and his players.

Richard M. and Catherine Cassata Scholarship

A scholarship is available to student enrolled in the College of Business based on financial need. This scholarship was generously created by Richard and Catherine Cassata. Richard received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Finance from Western New England in 1980 and was a member of the Golden Bear Baseball team. Richard is currently a Managing Director at Assured Guaranty Corporation in New York. Richard and his wife, Catherine reside in New Jersey.

Chester J. Chambers Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded annually to students from Longmeadow or Springfield who have demonstrated financial need. The scholarship is funded through a trust established in memory of Chester J. Chambers '23LLB, who served as a trustee of Western New England College from 1959-1969, and by his wife, Margaret E. Chambers.

Class Council Leadership Scholarship

A scholarship of a minimum of $1000 is awarded annually to a returning senior who has a cumulative Western New England University GPA of at least 2.75. The student must have demonstrated outstanding leadership and have been involved in University student organizations for at least two years. The scholarship may be awarded to a student in a paid or unpaid leadership position who has consistently devoted time to co-curricular programs. This scholarship was established by the Class of 2012 Council and continues to be funded through funds raised from annual senior fundraising events such as Jail Bail.

Class of 1979 Law Review Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship is available to a law student based upon a combination of demonstrated financial need and academic merit.  This scholarship was generously created by Jack S. White.  Jack received his law degree from Western New England in 1979.  He currently is a shareholder and managing director at the law firm Welts, White and Fontaine in Nashua, NH.

Coca-Cola Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded annually to an outstanding male/female student as determined by Western New England.  Award criteria and selection will be determined by Western New England University.

College of Arts and Sciences Annual Financial Grant

Annually an award is made to a student enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences with demonstrated financial need.

College of Business Annual Financial Aid Grant

Annually an award is made to a student enrolled in the College of Business with demonstrated financial need.

College of Business Board of Advisors Scholarship

A $2,500 scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled in the College of Business. In order to qualify for this scholarship, a recipient must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. The scholarship will be initially awarded to a freshman and may be renewed for subsequent years provided the student continues to meet the criteria of the fund. This scholarship was generously created by the Board of Advisors to Western New England University's College of Business.

College of Pharmacy Annual Scholarship

Annually an award is made to a student enrolled in the College of Pharmacy with demonstrated financial need.

College of Pharmacy Deans' Scholarship

Annually a $1,250 scholarship is awarded to the highest rated incoming student in the Professional Pharmacy program (as determined by the College of Pharmacy’s Admissions Committee) who demonstrates achievement and commitment to the College of Pharmacy’s mission, vision, and values during the first semester of the Professional Program.  This merit based scholarship was generously established by the Deans of the College of Pharmacy: Dean Evan Robinson, Associate Dean Beth Welch, Assistant Dean Kim Tanzer, Assistant Dean Joshua Spooner and Assistant Dean Matthew Dintzner.

Bruce D. Corl Memorial Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in the College of Business who has demonstrated financial need. This scholarship was created by Alex M. Corl '84BSBA in honor of his brother Bruce D. Corl, who passed away at the age of 45 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

George W. Crawford Black Bar Association Scholarship

Two $1,500 scholarships are available to students at Western New England University School of Law who have overcome significant economic, linguistic, cultural or educational obstacles or who belong to an underrepresented socio- or economically diverse ethnicity group. In addition, there is a preference for a student that exhibits leadership in promoting diversity issues or who demonstrates substantial and distinctive multicultural contributions to the School of Law and legal profession. This scholarship was generously established by the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association, a volunteer state-wide organization of attorney, judges, and law students in the state of Connecticut.

CVS Health Foundation Pharmacy Scholarship

Scholarships are available based on academic merit to students enrolled in the professional pharmacy program.  Recipients should be students who are interested in a career within a community pharmacy practice.  This scholarship was generously created by CVS Caremark through their charitable arm of CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, Inc.  The CVS Caremark Charitable Trust’s mission is to give back to the communities in which the live by helping people on their path to better health through community engagement and support.  Through this scholarship they are helping to educate the next generation of community pharmacists.

Robert W. and Marilyn P. Dobek Pharmacy Scholarship

Four $1,000 annual scholarships are available to students enrolled in the College of Pharmacy with demonstrated financial need. The recipients must be in good academic standing and hold a minimum grade point average of a 3.0.  Preference is given to students who have completed a bachelor’s degree program prior to matriculating in the College of Pharmacy.  This scholarship was generously created by Western New England University Trustee, Robert W. Dobek and his wife Marilyn.

Elk's National Foundation Scholarship

Per Cam L. Cronk-National Director of the Elks National Free Throw Program-the College may use whatever criteria it so desires to determine the recipient(s) of this scholarship.

Financial Partners, Inc. Excellence in Computer Science Scholarship

A merit-based scholarship is available to a full-time undergraduate who has completed their junior year of study and will be entering their senior and final year of study at the start of the academic year in which the award will be received.  The recipient of this scholarship must be majoring in either Computer Science or Information Technology and must hold and maintain a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.  This scholarship was generously established by Financial Partners, Inc. (FPI) in order to help motivate bright and ambitious students to continue to excel in the field of Computer Science.  Established in 1995, Financial Partners, Inc. Arthur R. and Nancy B. Finkelstein Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship is available to a law student starting in his or her second year based upon demonstrated financial need.  Provided the recipient continues to meet the criteria and remains in good standing this scholarship is renewable for the student’s subsequent years at the School of Law.  This scholarship was generously created by Arthur R. and Nancy B. Finkelstein.  Arthur received his juris doctorate from the School of Law in 1980.  He is currently a solo practitioner in Newton, MA, focusing his practice in the areas of trusts and estates.

Fund for Western New England Annual Scholarship

Annually awards are made to students enrolled in any program within the University who have demonstrated financial need.

Jimmy Geyer Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a full-time freshman in the College of Business with a demonstrated financial need.  If the student continues to meet the criteria, the scholarship is renewable and will provide financial aid support for the student?s four years at the University.  The scholarship is funded by the James G. Geyer Memorial Trust, established in 2002, through the generosity of his former classmates, teammates, and friends.  Jimmy Geyer was a former wide receiver for Western New England College?s first NCAA Division III football team in 1981.  Jimmy was a standout football player for four years at Western New England College, and subsequently a wonderful husband and father.  For those fortunate enough to know Jimmy, he was truly a loving, honest, and honorable friend.  Jimmy passed away in 2001, and though his voice is quiet, his spirit echoes still.

Matthew Alan Goodson Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships of various amounts are awarded annually to undergraduate students majoring in Pre-Pharmacy or Chemistry who has demonstrated financial need.  This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Matthew Alan Goodson who was a full-time student at Western New England University. Matthew lived by the philosophy that you can achieve whatever goals you have, as long as you are willing to work hard for them.  The sky was the limit for Matt and he lived a full life even though he was only 21 when he passed.

Rabbi Jerome S. Gurland Scholarship

A scholarship is available to either an undergraduate or a law student in good standing with financial need.  There is a preference for a student who is involved in spiritual life activities on campus and/or who exhibits qualities that reflect the promotion of religious harmony and tolerance at the University.  Rabbi Gurland served as an integral part of the Western New England community for over 30 years, retiring in 2012 as the Cultural Liaison Coordinator and as an adjunct faculty member of the cultures department.  His contributions to the campus and our students are numerous, including being a promoter of religious tolerance.  Rabbi Gurland is a William Pynchon Award recipient. He has also been honored by numerous other community service organizations, including the National Conference for Community and Justice for his commitment to civic understanding and cooperation among people of different races, religions and cultures.  Recognized as a guiding light on interfaith issues, Rabbi Gurland’s influence and legacy is continued through this fund by encouraging mutual respect and understanding within the campus community.

Jeffrey and Teresa Gurski Scholarship

A scholarship of a minimum of $1,000 is awarded to a full-time freshman with demonstrated financial need who is enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences. Preference is given to students majoring in Mathematics. The recipient must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher and have demonstrated financial need. The scholarship is awarded starting in the freshman year and can be renewed for the student?s subsequent undergraduate years at the University provided he or she maintains a GPA of at least 3.0 and continues to have financial need. If the student continues to meet the criteria, the scholarship is renewable and will provide financial aid support for the student?s time at the University. The scholarship was established through the generosity of Jeffrey M. Gurski and Teresa M. Gurski. Jeffrey received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 1981 and his wife, Teresa, received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting in 1984.

Norman and Minna Halperin Scholarship

A scholarship is available to a student enrolled in the College of Pharmacy with demonstrated financial need.  The recipient must be in good academic standing, have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, have an interest in community pharmacy and have a demonstrated care and concern for fellow students.  Should there be more than one student that meets the above criteria, there are secondary preferences for a student who has worked or trained, prior to enrollment, in a retail pharmacy and who is from one of the western Massachusetts counties of Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, or Berkshire.  This scholarship was generously created by the family and friends of Norman and Minna Halperin.  Norman and Minna Halperin were the owners of Norman's Pharmacy in Springfield, MA for over 30 years.  For many years, they have also been dedicated community and pharmacy association volunteers and avid collectors of pharmacy memorabilia from around the world.

Peter W. Hess Annual Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship is to be awarded to a senior in the College of Business who has a minimum GPA of 3.0; who is from the greater Springfield area; and has financial need. This scholarship was generously created by Peter Hess?s family, colleagues, and former students in memory of his over thirty years of commitment and dedication to Western New England.

Thomas K. Kamp Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship of one-half tuition is awarded annually to a senior in the College of Business. Preference is given to a veteran or the son or daughter of a veteran. The scholarship was established in memory of Thomas Keith Kamp '68BSBA, who was killed in action in Vietnam on November 17, 1969.

Johanna A. Kolodziejski Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship is available to an entering freshman with financial need who is studying either psychology or neuroscience.  There is a preference for a female student who has demonstrated strong academic success in high school despite enduring economic and/or other challenging life circumstances.   This scholarship has been created by Professor of Psychology, Dennis J. Kolodziejski, in memory of his daughter, Dr. Johanna Adeline Kolodziejski, who lost her courageous battle with cancer in 2009 at the age of 32.  Hanna grew up on the Western New England campus, engaging in scientific research while attending Longmeadow High School, and continued her studies by earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Brown University.  Following her undergraduate studies she spent a year of service with AmeriCorps’ National Civilian Community Corps program.  Despite a constant battle against cancer, she earned her Ph.D in Biology from Indiana University in 2007. Following her studies, she began working as a professor at Keene State College in New Hampshire. Always one to help others, Hanna overcame the adversity in her life by advocating for the success of others, focusing on numerous community initiatives.  Despite her short time in this world, her wonder, energy, optimism, and appreciation for the value of scientific education and social justice will never be lost.  Through this scholarship, her father hopes to inspire and recognize the same curiosity and spirit towards science and community activism in other young people who have already begun to make a difference.

Law Faculty and Staff Public Interest Scholarship

A scholarship is available for a returning law student based on financial need and merit. There is a preference for a student who has exhibited a commitment toward public interest law through employment or volunteer work. This scholarship was generously created from contributions donated by the faculty and staff of the School of Law.

Agnes M. Lindsay Trust Scholarship

Scholarship grants are awarded to students with demonstrated financial need from rural New England communities in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, or Massachusetts. This scholarship opportunity is made possible through contributions from The Agnes M. Lindsay Trust.

Anthony Lucki Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in any of the four schools of the College, full-time or part-time, who have demonstrated financial need and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.  Scholarships are renewable provided the recipients continue to meet the criteria.  This scholarship is made possible through contributions from Anthony Lucki ‘70, as well as from Houghton Mifflin Company, of which Mr. Lucki is President and Chief Executive Officer.

Kenneth A. MacLeod Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship of varying amounts, established by the Sigma Beta Tau Honor Society in memory of Dr. Kenneth A. MacLeod, is awarded annually to the student who received the highest GPA in a regular freshman engineering program. The student must be enrolled as a sophomore in an engineering curriculum at the time of the award.

Harry and Mollie Marcus Scholarship

A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a fulltime freshman with demonstrated financial need who is enrolled in the College of Business. If the student continues to meet the criteria, the scholarship is renewable and will provide financial aid support for the student's four years at the University. The scholarship was established through the generosity of Mollie Marcus in memory of her husband, Harry. The couple were the founders of East Coast Tile Imports, Inc., based in Ludlow, MA.

William F. McMyne Scholarship

A $2,500 scholarship is awarded to an enrolling or existing part-time evening law student based on financial need.  For an award to any currently enrolled student, their letter grade should be a B or higher or a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  This scholarship was generously created by Michael McMyne is memory of his father.  Michael received his law degree from the School of Law in 1990.

Kristin Murphy Annual Scholarship

A scholarship is available to a full-time freshman in the College of Engineering whose high school GPA is a 3.0 or higher.  This scholarship is renewable for the student’s subsequent undergraduate years at the University provided the student maintains a 3.0 or higher GPA throughout their time at Western New England.  This scholarship was generously established by University Trustee, Kristin Murphy, who received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England in 1993.

National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation Scholarship

Scholarships are available to students enrolled in the professional pharmacy program.  There is a preference for students who are interested in pursuing a career in community pharmacy.  This scholarship is generously sponsored by the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Foundation.  The NACDS Foundation Pharmacy Partners Scholarship Program is generously supported by many benefactors, consisting of NACDS Chain Pharmacy Companies and Associate Member benefactors.  This scholarship acts as a reflection of their continued commitment to pharmacy education and to strengthen the role of community pharmacy in enhancing patient care.

Wah Sing and Christine Ng Annual Scholarship

A $1,000 annual scholarship is available beginning in the freshman year to a student enrolled in the College of Engineering with demonstrated financial need. The recipient must be majoring in Electrical Engineering. This scholarship is renewable for the duration of the recipient's time at the University provided the student continues to meet the criteria. This scholarship was generously created by Western New England University Trustee, Wah Sing Ng and his wife Christine. Wah Sing Ng received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1968 and a Master of Business Administration in 1975, both from Western New England University. He is currently the president of NG Planning, LLC. Wah Sing and his wife Christine live in New Jersey.

Pharmacists Mutual Companies Scholarship

A scholarship is available to a student enrolled in the professional pharmacy program based upon a combination of academic merit and financial need.  Preference is given to a student who desires to be a community practitioner. There is an additional preference for the recipient to be from one of the states in which Pharmacists Mutual Company operates and/or for the recipient to have an intention to practice in one such region.  This scholarship was generously created by Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company.  For over ninety years pharmacists throughout America have entrusted Pharmacists Mutual with their insurance needs.

Thomas and Cynthia Picknally Scholarship

A scholarship of a minimum of $1,500 is awarded to a full-time freshman with demonstrated financial need who is enrolled in the College of Business. Preference is given to participants in the University's combined BSBA/MBA program. If the student continues to meet the criteria, the scholarship is renewable and will provide financial aid support for the student’s time at the University. The scholarship was established through the generosity of Thomas J. Picknally `79BSBA.

Pioneer Valley Mechanical Trades Endowed Scholarship

A scholarship is available to a student consistent with the financial need policies of the Western New England.  There is a preference for a student who resides in one of the four western Massachusetts counties -- Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, or Hampshire, is majoring in Engineering and who is currently enrolled with financial need, in this order.  This scholarship was generously established through the generosity of the Pioneer Valley Mechanical Trades.

Rite Aid Pharmacy Scholarship

Scholarships are available to students enrolled in the Professional Pharmacy program who have financial need. This scholarship fund was generously established by Rite-Aid Pharmacy.

Jeffrey Sagalyn Law Scholarship

A scholarship is available to a law student based upon a combination of academic merit and financial need.  This scholarship is renewable for the student’s subsequent years at the University provided the student continues to qualify for the scholarship by maintaining good academic progress. This scholarship was generously established by Jeffrey B. Sagalyn, who received his juris doctorate from Western New England University School of Law in 1976.  Jeff is currently a solo practitioner in Chicopee, MA and together with his wife, Christine, resides in Wilbraham, MA.

School of Law Annual Scholarship

Annual a scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the School of Law with demonstrated financial need and merit.

Sigma Beta Tau Scholarship

A scholarship of varying amounts is awarded annually by the Sigma Beta Tau Honor Society to the student who has received the highest GPA in a regular sophomore engineering program. The student must be enrolled as a junior in an engineering curriculum at the time of the award.

Evan R. Simpson Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to an incoming freshman based on financial need. Evan R. Simpson received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England College in 1961. Evan was a past President of the Epsilon Phi Sigma fraternity and a past President of the Alumni Association. He was a recipient of the Alumni Association's Special Award for Service and the Silver Letter Award. Evan worked for James River Graphics for thirty-five years retiring in 1988 as Manager of Environmental Affairs. Evan was married for 61 years to Gladys M. Simpson. Together they had three sons, William, Scott, and David. This scholarship was generously created by Evan's family and friends in memory of his longtime love of and commitment to Western New England.

The Frank J. Skrzyniarz, RPh Scholarship

A merit-based scholarship is available to a professional College of Pharmacy student who is interested in pursuing a career in hospital pharmacy.  The recipient of this scholarship must maintain a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.  This scholarship was generously established by the Hospital Pharmacists of Western Massachusetts, in honor of former association president, Frank J. Skrzyniarz, RPh.

Smith & Wesson Merit Scholarship

A merit scholarship is available to a mechanical engineering major during the recipient’s sophomore year of study.  In order to be eligible the recipient must have earned a minimum overall GPA of 3.6 in their first year courses at Western New England University.  If there are multiple qualified candidates, there is a secondary preference for a student from the greater Springfield, MA metropolitan area. This scholarship was generously established by Smith & Wesson to help encourage outstanding achievement in mechanical engineering studies.  Founded in Springfield, MA in 1852, Smith & Wesson is a US-based leader in firearm manufacturing and design, delivering a broad portfolio of quality firearms, related products, and training to the global military, law enforcement, and consumer markets.  For over thirty years, Smith & Wesson has partnered with Western New England University to provide internships, senior project support, and collaboration opportunities with faculty, students, and alumni. As a condition of this scholarship, the recipient of the scholarship will also be awarded a paid summer internship at Smith & Wesson, in Springfield, MA for the summer following the student’s sophomore year.  By accepting the scholarship, the student is also accepting the internship opportunity.  This opportunity is subject to change in hours and the hourly rate is to be commensurate with similar internship opportunities.

Stone Family Scholarship

A $1,000 scholarship is available to an undergraduate student beginning in their freshman year based upon financial need.  This scholarship is renewable for the student's subsequent years at the University provided the student continues to have financial need.  This scholarship was generously created by Peter B. Stone.  Peter currently is the President and founder of P.B. Stone Associate, Inc., which provides merger and acquisition advisory services for privately held businesses.  He resides in Naples, Florida.

Philip W. Suomu Scholarship

A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a full-time freshman with demonstrated financial need who is enrolled in the College of Business. If the student continues to meet the criteria, the scholarship is renewable and will provide financial aid support for the student?s four years at the University. The scholarship was established through the generosity of Philip W. Suomu '83MBA.

The Gary F. Thomas Law Scholarship

A scholarship is available to a returning law student based on financial need. This scholarship was generously created by Gary F. Thomas, who received his law degree from the School of Law in 1976. Gary is president of The Wealth Technology Group based in West Springfield, MA. The Wealth Technology Group provides wealth advisory, asset management, asset protection, and tax and retirement services to individuals, and businesses.

T.J.X. Foundation Scholarship

A scholarship based on financial need is available to an undergraduate student that is either a child from a single parent household or who is currently raising a family of their own.  This scholarship was generously created by the TJX Foundation as part of their mission to provide assistance to disadvantaged women, children and families.

Roger W. Wade Annual Scholarship

A scholarship is available to a second-year law student who during his or her first-year best exemplified academic merit beyond expectations.  This scholarship is renewable for the student’s subsequent years provided the student continues to maintain high academic progress.  This scholarship was generously established by Roger W. Wade, a 1982 alumnus of the School of Law.  Roger is a principal and founding partner of G.W. and Wade, Inc.  G.W. and Wade serves successful entrepreneurs, professionals, and their families, providing extensive expertise in tax planning, investment management, retirement, and estate planning.

Walgreens Diversity and Inclusion Excellence Award

Annually an award is made to a student enrolled in the College of Pharmacy who has demonstrated a strong commitment to raising awareness in diversity or playing an active role in educating others about cultural competency and diversity related matters impacting the pharmacy profession. The award recipient will be a student who embraces diversity and promotes diversity and inclusion initiatives on campus. This award was generously created by Walgreens Pharmacy. For many years, Walgreens has shown a strong commitment to supporting programs and initiatives which foster diversity and inclusion within the pharmacy profession and the communities they serve.

Walgreens Diversity Scholarship

Annually awards are made to one or more student(s) of an underrepresented socio- or economically diverse ethnicity group enrolled in the College of Pharmacy who have demonstrated a strong interest in community pharmacy. This scholarship was generously created by Walgreens Pharmacy. For many years, Walgreens has shown a strong commitment to supporting programs and initiatives which foster diversity and inclusion within the pharmacy profession and the communities they serve.

Weston Shipping, Inc. Scholarship

A scholarship is available to a student in the College of Business based upon academic merit.   There is a preference for a student majoring in International Business.  This scholarship was generously created by Michael Courtemanche.  Michael received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Western New England University in 1966.  He is currently the chairman of Weston Shipping, Inc. dba ADCOM Worldwide, an international freight forwarder in Houston, TX.

Edward M. Zielinski Scholarship

A scholarship is available to student majoring in Mechanical Engineering based on a combination of financial need and merit.  This scholarship was generously created in memory of Edward M. Zielinski by his family.  Edward received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England University in 1970.

Henry S. Ziomek, Sr. Scholarship

A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a full-time student beginning in their freshman year who resides in the towns of Granby or South Hadley, Massachusetts. In addition, the student must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher.  There is a preference for a student who also participated in athletics while in high school.  If the student continues to meet the criteria, the scholarship is renewable and will provide financial support for the student's four years at the University. The scholarship was established through the generosity of the Ziomek Family in memory of Henry S. Ziomek, Sr., who was a strong advocate of the importance of athletic participation and educational pursuit within the towns of Granby and South Hadley.
