The Center for International Sport Business (CISB) will host a talk by Tim Restall, president of the Hartford Yard Goats on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:00 p.m. in Sleith Hall, Wood Auditorium on the University Campus. This will be the CISB’s 33rd speaker in the popular "For the Love of the Games" program series according Professor Curt Hamakawa, CISB director.
The Hartford Yard Goats are a Minor League Baseball team (Eastern League) and Double-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. The team was founded in 2016 when the New Britain Rock Cats relocated to Hartford, where they play at Dunkin' Donuts Park, voted best minor league ballpark among Double-A facilities in 2017 and 2018 (Ballpark Digest).
Restall started his career in Minor League Baseball working for the Single-A West Michigan Whitecaps (Detroit Tigers affiliate) as the food and beverage manager from 2000-03. Prior to joining the Yard Goats, Restall worked for the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays affiliate), where he was a founding member of the front office staff during its 2004 inaugural season.
Between 2005 and 2012, Restall served as general manager for Centerplate, an event catering and hospitality services company, before returning to the Fisher Cats to become vice president of business operations. In 2013, Restall became general manager of the New Britain Rock Cats, where he began work on the team’s rebranding and relocation to Hartford.
Restall, who is originally from Salem, NH, attended New Hampshire College and the University of New Hampshire at Manchester. He and his wife, Tara, reside in Tolland, CT, with their three children.
