Western New England University's Center for International Sport Business (CISB) is pleased to announce its fall program series, "People Who Inspire" which will begin on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.

Dr. Steven Posner, retired head coach of the Springfield College men's gymnastics team and Associate Professor of Sport Management, will kick off the series. He will discuss developing self-confidence, building character, and mastery orientation, which attributes achievement to personal effort rather than talent. This in-person event will take place in the University's St. Germain Campus Center from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Posner was a member of the University of California, Berkeley, men's gymnastics team that won the NCAA Division I Men's Gymnastics Championship in his senior year, where he also earned All-America honors in the floor exercise event. During his coaching tenure, Posner produced 23 national champions, guided 171 collegiate gymnasts to All-America honors, and earned numerous accolades himself, including ECAC Coach of the Year, USA Gymnastics Collegiate Coach of the Year, and NCAA East Region Coach of the Year. A graduate of UC Berkeley, Posner went on to earn his master's degree from Syracuse University, and PhD from the University of Connecticut.

This event is presented by the Center for International Sport Business, sponsored by the Western New England University Alumni Association. For more information, contact Curt Hamakawa at curt.hamakawa@wne.edu or 413-782-1786.
