The Western New England University Department of Public Safety and Student Senate are teaming up to host "Stuff-A-Cruiser" Toy Drive event on Thursday, December 8, from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. outside of the University Commons. Donations from the public are welcomed.
Bring a new unwrapped toy to University Commons where officers will park a cruiser to collect donations for the benefit of the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Springfield.
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a health care system dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric specialty care, conducting innovative research, and offering outstanding educational programs for medical professionals. Children up to age 18 with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care and receive all services in a family-centered environment, regardless of the families' ability to pay.
"When you bring a toy for donation, you will be entered to win a raffle for a 'Park Almost Anywhere' parking pass," said Sergeant Alexandria Capen-Parizo, the event organizer. "Bear will be in attendance for at least a portion of the event for those who wish to say hello. Each person who donates a gift will receive a special edition ‘Bear the Comfort Dog’ trading card!"
