Western New England University (WNE) proudly announces its role as the host venue for the Region 1 Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fair (MSEF) on March 8, 2024. The event will take place in Rivers Memorial Auditorium on the University campus from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The MSEF, with its rich history dating back to 1949, is a cornerstone event in advancing science and engineering literacy. Founded by the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, MIT professors, and pioneering K-12 science educators, the fair has been instrumental in nurturing future thought leaders in the field.

This year's fair promises to be an exceptional showcase of scientific inquiry and innovation, with students from across Massachusetts presenting their independent research projects. The schedule includes a rigorous judging session (closed to the public) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The fair will then open its doors to the public from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering attendees a glimpse into the cutting-edge research conducted by the next generation of scientists and engineers. The pinnacle of the event, the Awards Ceremony, is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.

"The Massachusetts Science and Engineering Fair is not just an event; it's a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of our young scholars," remarked Christian Salmon, chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management at Western New England University. "At WNE, we are committed to fostering a culture of scientific inquiry and discovery, and we are honored to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents and passion for science and engineering."

Through initiatives like the MSEF, WNE continues to play a pivotal role in empowering students and educators to excel in science and engineering practices, both inside and outside the classroom. The fair not only celebrates the culmination of months of hard work and dedication but also underscores the importance of critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration in addressing local and global challenges.
