Due to the expected winter storm, the University will close campus beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. The campus will remain closed through Monday, and we expect to resume normal operations on Tuesday morning. If conditions change, we will share updates promptly. 

Campus Services During the Closure 

While most in-person activities will pause, essential services will remain available. Public Safety and Facilities will be on campus throughout the storm, and the following services are expected to remain open or staffed: 

  • Residence Halls (RDs/RAs on duty) 
  • Dining 
  • Computer Labs 
  • Facilities/Housekeeping 
  • University Operator 
  • Health Services (TBD by Director) 

Students living on campus should expect regular support from Residence Life and Public Safety. 

Classes and Work During the Closure 

Students 
Scheduled face-to-face classes will not take place on campus. At the discretion of faculty, some in-person classes may be held remotely. Faculty will communicate directly, so please check your email and course site for updates. 

Classes that are already scheduled to be fully remote will continue as usual unless otherwise communicated by your instructor.  

Staff 
Staff who are able to work remotely should coordinate with their supervisors as appropriate.

The University’s Inclement Weather Policy is available on the WNE website via the homepage banner. We will communicate any changes or reopening details through WNE Alert, email, and the University website.

MSBT Admissions Requirements

What You'll Need

Applications to the MSBT program may be submitted via the Western New England University free application or through PharmGrad.

  • Bachelor’s degree: A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree majors: Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Dental Surgery, Engineering (including Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Electrical Engineering), Health Sciences, Health Studies, Medicine, Medical Lab Technology, Microbiology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Surgery, or Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry.
  • Minimum GPA: An undergraduate GPA of 2.70 or foreign equivalent is preferred. Candidates with a lower GPA will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Transcripts: Official transcripts, in English, from all colleges attended must be submitted. International applicants may be required to provide a foreign course-by-course degree evaluation from one of the following approved agencies: WES, FIS, ECE, or SpanTran.
  • Recommendations: Two letters of recommendations are preferred; if provided, we prefer one recommendation be from a professor.
  • Essay question: How have your past experiences prepared you for our MSBT program, and how would obtaining this degree from WNE help you reach your career goals?
  • A current résumé or CV must be submitted.

English-language test scores are required for all applicants who are non-native English speakers UNLESS they have completed a bachelor's degree or graduate degree following three or more years of campus-based post-secondary instruction in the United States.

  • Applicants may use any of the following standardized tests to meet our English language requirement:
    • TOEFL – 80 IBT
    • IELTS – 6.5
    • PTE Academic – 56
    • STEP Eiken – 1
    • iTEP – 4.5
    • Duolingo – 105 DET
  • List of countries in which English language testing would be waived because it is the primary language:
    • Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, New Zealand, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Kingdom.

Qualified candidates may be invited to participate in an interview and complete a writing sample.
