Students successfully completing the program will earn a Master of Science in Biopharmaceutical Technology (MSBT).

No, students can spread the MSBT coursework over more than one calendar year, if needed. We recommend that you discuss this with the program coordinator to make a plan that works for you.

The Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy boasts state-of-the-art technology and has several research and teaching laboratories equipped with scientific instruments to be used by students in the Analytical Techniques Lab and the Biopharmaceutical Technology Lab. This includes typical equipment and instrumentation to produce a biologic protein from a CHO cell line, clarify the bioreactor broth, purify the protein of interest, and characterize the protein properties. A second lab is equipped with instrumentation that enables a typical workflow of a gene-modified cell therapy, such as cell selection, cell washing and concentration, cellular transfection, cell culture, and formulation. The Center is designed to ensure a close learning environment that facilitates faculty-student interactions and small group activities. A robust and innovative technology plan is included in tuition and fees. The plan comprises student tablet computing devices, lecture capture, learning management systems, interactive classroom technology, online testing, and electronic portfolios.

Yes, the MSBT program is set up so that coursework can be completed out of order.

Yes, all master’s degree programs at WNE are accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).

Applications to the MSBT program are handled through the free WNE application on our website or the Pharmacy Graduate Application Service (PharmGrad). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We will continue to review applications and admit students on a space-available basis. Admission decisions are typically released within one to two weeks of your application being complete. Prospective students should apply as early as possible in relation to the anticipated start date.

An undergraduate GPA of 2.70 is preferred. Candidates with a lower GPA will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

No, we do not require applicants to complete the GRE. You can submit your scores if you have taken the exam and would like to share them to support your application.

You can submit up to two letters of recommendation, if you would like, to support your application. These should be submitted on an applicant's behalf directly through the application, or they can be sent to admissions staff. If submitted, one of these letters should be from a teacher or professor.
