Department of Psychology

Exploring the intersection of biology and mind

The Department of Psychology educates students to develop an understanding of the complex questions surrounding human and animal behavior as well as the methods and techniques used by psychologists to answer these questions. The department offers BA or BS programs in Psychology for undergraduates.

Western New England University has partnered with the prestigious New England Center for Children to offer the Master of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis, which prepares students to meet the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) requirements for taking the exam to become Board Certified Behavior Analysts.

Through a combination of coursework and supervised practical and research experiences, the PhD program in Behavior Analysis program educates researchers and scientist-practitioners in the discovery, translation, and application of knowledge toward solving human behavior problems of societal importance (e.g., autism and related disabilities). As of August 2017, thirty of the program’s 37 program graduates serve as faculty in colleges and universities in the U.S. and teach courses in behavior analysis, primarily at the graduate level. View more of the graduates.

Students have written multiple publications from their doctoral program requirements as well as design, execute, and present research in a variety of areas.
