Due to the expected winter storm, the University will close campus beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. The campus will remain closed through Monday, and we expect to resume normal operations on Tuesday morning. If conditions change, we will share updates promptly.
Campus Services During the Closure
While most in-person activities will pause, essential services will remain available. Public Safety and Facilities will be on campus throughout the storm, and the following services are expected to remain open or staffed:
Students living on campus should expect regular support from Residence Life and Public Safety.
Classes and Work During the Closure
Students
Scheduled face-to-face classes will not take place on campus. At the discretion of faculty, some in-person classes may be held remotely. Faculty will communicate directly, so please check your email and course site for updates.
Classes that are already scheduled to be fully remote will continue as usual unless otherwise communicated by your instructor.
Staff
Staff who are able to work remotely should coordinate with their supervisors as appropriate.
Staying Informed

Over 90% of classrooms on campus have been equipped with state-of-the-art digital multimedia technology. This technology includes teaching stations, computers, visual presenters, microphones, DVD/Blu-Ray players, integrated audio systems, and projectors or LCD flat panel monitors. These classrooms are considered a key teaching tool by faculty and staff and truly set Western New England University apart from the rest.
Presentation technology support is offered to the Western New England University community from the Media Services sub-group of the Office of Information Technology. The Media Services group provides audiovisual presentation support for classroom technology as well as for campus events, including our own highly regarded commencement ceremony. Services include the setup and support of the technology required for presentation, recording, lighting, audio, etc.
To request Media Services presentation technology support for an event, use the Event Scheduling System and identify your requirements or initiate an OIT Work Order.
The Office of Information Technology maintains over 850 computers in numerous labs located throughout the campus. These can be found in D'Amour Library, Churchill Hall, Sleith Hall, Herman Hall, LaRiviere Center, the Blake Law School, and the Center for the Sciences and Pharmacy. Many of these are in computer classrooms, which are available for use by students when vacant; however, over 150 computers are located in dedicated open public locations with unrestricted access. D'Amour Hall also offers 24/7 access to both Windows and Apple computers on the ground level, accessible from the rear door to the library.
Important note: All publicly available and classroom computers have configuration protection software installed. This software resets the computer to its original state when rebooted. When rebooted, all files that were deleted will reappear, all files that were added will be deleted, all files modified will return to their original state, and all configuration and setting changes will be reverted. To save your work, you must use a portable storage device such as a USB thumb drive. We highly recommend that you reboot before starting to work on any public or classroom computer so that modifications made prior to your arrival will not jeopardize the stability and performance of the computer.
OIT provides a list of technology resources especially useful when working remotely, like opening an OIT work order, loaner laptop setup, Zoom, support contacts, and more.
The Office of Information Technology is committed to providing the Western New England University community with a wide range of technology services and solutions.
