Close

Due to the expected winter storm, the University will close campus Monday, February 23.  We expect to resume normal operations on Tuesday morning. If conditions change, we will share updates promptly.

Campus Services During the Closure

While most in-person activities will pause, essential services will remain available. Public Safety and Facilities will be on campus throughout the storm, and the following services are expected to remain open or staffed:

• Residence Halls (RDs/RAs on duty)
• Dining
• Computer Labs
• Facilities/Housekeeping
• Health Services (TBD by Director)

Students living on campus should expect regular support from Residence Life and Public Safety.

Classes and Work During the Closure

Students
All offices and in-person activities are canceled for the day. In-person classes are canceled but may be held remotely at the discretion of faculty. Faculty will communicate directly, so please check your email and course site for updates.

Classes that are already scheduled to be fully remote will continue as usual unless otherwise communicated by your instructor.

Staff
Staff who are able to work remotely should coordinate with supervisors as appropriate. Staff whose work requires on-campus presence should follow supervisor guidance.

Staying Informed

The University’s Inclement Weather Policy is available on the WNE website via the homepage banner. We will communicate any changes or reopening details through WNE Alert, email, and the University website.

Thank you for your cooperation and flexibility as we work to keep our community safe during the storm.

OTD Admissions Pathways

Explore Your Options

We are excited to expand our OTD program! Our Online Distance Pathway welcomed its first cohort in Fall 2024, and we are now introducing the OTD Extended Pathway for students seeking additional time and flexibility to complete their degree. We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2026—explore our web pages to learn more!

Early Admission: December 1, 2025

Regular deadline: Rolling, we accept applications on a space-available basis

There are two ways to apply: Our free WNE application or through OTCAS.

Students will complete their Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree in our 8-semester or 11-semester pathways. Students will attend consecutive semesters during fall, spring, and summer. An online distance pathway and an extended pathway are available to OTD students as other options to complete their degree.

Pathways

High School Applicants

Two degrees of preparation—in just six years, not seven. That’s the advantage of earning a joint BS or BA and OTD degree at Western New England. Save time and tuition and be positioned to earn the salary afforded those among the highest degree in the field.

Students will complete their Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree in less than 3 years in our 8-semester program. Students will attend 8 consecutive semesters during fall, spring, and summer. Online OTD Distance Program

Occupational therapy delivery models are changing, and the Western New England University Doctor of Occupational Therapy program prepares you to be a part of that future through the hybrid Distance Learning Cohort (DLC). As the practice of occupational therapy transitions, WNE is meeting the moment through a comprehensive and adaptable online curriculum.

OTD Distance

Extended OTD Pathway

COPHS offers the four-year (11-semester) Extended Doctor of Occupational Therapy pathway (OTDx). The OTDx follows the same curriculum as our full-time distance and in-person pathways, but at a slower pace that allows you to pursue a career in occupational therapy wherever you are and with more flexibility to meet life’s demands.

OTDx Pathway

Current WNE Students

Current WNE students have two pathways to enter the OTD program: either by enrolling in a 3+3 OTD program or applying to the doctorate program during their senior year.
